Camesha Hatchet

Mrs. Camesha Hatchett

Camesha Hatchett serves as principal of Oak Forest Elementary School.  She works diligently to create a culture that focuses on safety, teaching, and learning.

Mrs. Hatchett brings 21 years of educational experience to this role, 13 of which have been with Jackson Public Schools.  Her educational experience began in Canton Public Schools as a 5th and 8th grade teacher. She taught 9th and 12th grade at Terry High School. For the last 13 years, Mrs. Hatchett has served in JPS as a 3rd grade teacher, Librarian, Interventionist, along with being named Assistant Principal at G.N. Smith and Walton Elementary.

Mrs. Hatchett completed her high school studies at Madison Central High School. She attended the University of Southern Mississippi and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in elementary education, a Master's Degree in elementary education from Belhaven University, and a Specialist Degree in educational leadership from MS College.  

Mrs. Hatchett is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. She is also a recent recipient of the 2023 MACTE Award for Outstanding Administrator given by the Mississippi Association for Colleges of Teacher Education. 

Mrs. Hatchett believes in building positive relationships with a growth mindset, while creating an environment of excellence in teaching and learning.
